Pros

Pay is somewhat ok in my area

Cons

They sell you a fantasy when they hire you. All the benefits, PTO on top of time off during the holidays, a wonderful company with plenty of upward mobility, 4 months of busy, long hours but the rest of the year is slow and easy so being salaried it evens out in your favor and bonuses. None of that is true. Being the largest publicly traded landscaping company, you are a cog in the machine. Not a person, but a resource they will suck everything out of you possible. If you were to measure the stress response on a biological level, for some brightview employees, you would think they are neurosurgeons not in landscaping. You are expected to work during PTO, even though the branch is shut down a good bit during the holidays you now have to consider it you’re accrued PTO. Those 60-70 hour weeks don’t really stop even in the off season, and you will be expected as a salaried manager fill in on labor shortages and do manual work sometimes until 6:30 pm- 7:00 pm when your work day starts at 6 am. No one gets bonuses, and you face constant job insecurity that you could be let go over an account ceasing service over something that is most likely completely outside of your control because you don’t matter at this company at all. At the end of the day it’s all about getting maximum profits for shareholders, the people who are completely disconnected and out of touch with what the day to day is like for the average employee control and cause all this pressure that seeps into the company culture making a very toxic work environment. Middle management gets cliquey, resents anyone else who isn’t jumping at the opportunity to work around the clock neglecting their life outside of work like they are failing to realize no one should be expected to donate their time as a charity for a giant company that revenues $2 Billion a year. On top of that not even offering good benefits for salaried employees. Even the cheapest worst coverage health insurance they offer was way more than most can afford.

Pros

Good job and new manager has turned the place around.

Cons

1. Make you pay for take home company truck now used to be part of the job 2. Took away my managers sales bonus and he was not happy about it 3. All managers share a credit card for the entire branch 4. Bonuses are not what they used to be 5. Cuts are made company wide every quarter all to save Dales job and to show a shareholder profit yet the CEO makes millions with tones of bonuses and extras while little guys get crap pay
