Pros
The company has customers, more than one. This is luxury for startups. Meaning if they do it right, scale up fast and robustly, they can succeed.
Cons
“If they do it right” is a huge assumption and is not what they actually did. The management chaos starts all the way up from their VC’s CEO. This man is a charismatic leader and can bring dollars to the table, but he really should stay away from messing around with the company’s roadmap (if they ever had one…) every few months. Mid management had a few people with the right vision and the willingness to make changes. But their hands are tied because trust issues are soooo common and deep across and within the teams. Part of it is this strong buddy culture making it impossible to hold people accountable. When incompetence is not held accountable and sometimes even rewarded, good talents leave and a vicious cycle starts. Look, they will tell you chaos is common among startups. It is true but that doesn’t mean it’s right. That’s the management telling you, I knew something is wrong but I AIN’T GONNA DO NOTHING! Don’t let them fool you.
