Pros

- Learn Barista skills that will stand to you - Experience at a "reputable" coffee company, even if you lack Barista skills - Practise German language while working - Work at one of 4 locations in Berlin

Cons

- Unrealistic expectations from management, i.e. they will complain behind your back if they do not favour you, e.g. you made a minor mistake that would be forgivable for a coworker, they will remember and make you feel paranoid about becoming fired (even though they struggle to retain staff) - False welcoming feeling during Onboarding - only to be made feel unwelcome or useless weeks later - Rota for the upcoming week published late every week, meaning you can't plan your personal life effectively. Bigger coffee companies such as this should provide minimum monthly rotas for employees - Severely understaffed, be prepared to be asked to cover peoples' shifts regularly. Don't expect sympathy if you are sick or can't otherwise make it to work. You will not get thanks for covering others' shifts either - Management cares much more about public perception rather than employee well-being. Be prepared to be feel like you're a failing employee even if you try your best to encourage repeat customer business and have a good attitude. - Wake up to the culture you are cultivating for your teams! - Arbitrarily favouring certain staff, and firing others based on "vibe", creates a culture of paranoia and discomfort for everyone, regardless of their performance and capability. - It is no secret that Bonanza has a high turnover rate and Baristas in Berlin are actively discouraged to avoid the company. Value the staff you have and encourage them to be better; Do not discourage them or fire them for very human mistakes..

Pros

Nice colleagues (also depends on a shop, there's 4 of them), and good coffee

Cons

Minimal wage salary that sometimes doesn't go up even after probation, and if it does, it is usually 50 cents. You get a full time contract, but that means max. around 30h per week. Management is careless, pretentious and only care about how to present shop and atmosphere in the fakest way possible. Long story short, if you really want to learn coffee process, go there for 3 months and then run! There are so many places in Berlin that pay more and actually give some benefits.
