Pros

- Opportunity to gain knowledge on a wide range of products pertaining to many different industries. - Assisting customers and resolving their issues is fulfilling. - A good way to make connections if you are seeking a career in the trades. - The company Christmas party always has a lot of effort put into it with generous food and beverages.

Cons

- 9 hour shift with only a 30min lunch and no breaks and management's excuse is that "when there are no customers in the store you get to hang out" which isn't true as there is always work to do. - Locker room talk instigated by management is the norm and you are expected to participate. - Management and employees mock customers physical appearance, way of speaking, ethnicity and perceived sexuality - this all occurs even before customers have left the store. This type of behaviour is not limited to being directed at customers but to other Bolts employees and management as well. This happens throughout multiple locations. - As an employee you are expected to conduct inside & outside sales, as well as drive work trucks and vans that are not cleaned or properly maintained, Your pay and title remain as a retail associate but you are carrying out responsibilities and duties of multiple jobs for a fraction of the market rate salary. - Deliveries to unsafe customer worksites (sides of highways, open tunneling sites, heavy equipment active onsite) are not uncommon and PPE is not always provided. - If a delivery runs into your half-hour break you are expected to eat your meal while you drive. - Break and meal prep areas vary by location but some are void of running water and basic seating, and are often dirty. Bathrooms as well. You will get called off of your break if the store is busy.
