Pros
Customers are most often really nice to talk to.
Cons
I had an extremely disappointing experience working at Bolt and Buckle. The environment is toxic, with team members being pitted against each other. The owners demand not only sales but also expect you to clean up after them, despite offering no additional compensation for these extra duties. Their lack of knowledge on how to run a business is apparent, and they keep crucial information tightly guarded. The claim that the business is a "family" is laughable. Nearly everyone who works there is distressed due to the owners' constant micromanagement. They impose tasks that warrant higher pay but refuse to compensate accordingly. Efforts and hard work go unrecognized and uncelebrated. The hiring practices are discriminatory, as they seem to prefer a certain type of woman, believing that they can use their looks to manipulate customers. Safety is a significant issue—there are no precautions in place to protect staff from harassment, which happens frequently. Despite repeated requests for basic safety measures like lowering the cash till, the owners did nothing. Shockingly, they even saw a staff member's stalker as a benefit to the business. Moreover, the store's pricing practices are unethical. Items are not priced upon arrival to prevent their leather goods makers from knowing the actual costs. They frequently cut corners and view knowledgeable staff as threats rather than assets. Additionally, lunch breaks and 10-minute breaks are not scheduled, and the owners constantly call to check on what we're doing, adding to the stressful environment. Overall, Bolt and Buckle is a highly dysfunctional workplace with poor management and a lack of basic employee respect and safety. I strongly advise against working here or supporting this business.
