Pros

Fun environment, most people are friendly and easy to talk to. Company pays for certifications. Great start for someone coming out of college. Nerf fights are commonplace.

Cons

Benefits are not fantastic. Internal IT often a limitation to success but greatly improving as of late. Working within client's budget is often frustrating due to the size of the average client being small (in the grand scheme of things) leaving you with many "band aid" solutions and repeated break/fix instead of proper solutions. Along the same lines most work focuses on desktop level issues with not much room to specialize in advanced server/network/storage tasks due to average client size. Once employees get more experience and want to specialize in an area they will realize they can do better financially and expand their experience much more quickly elsewhere.

I agree with you, most of what we do places focus on ensuring the End User has stable IT. Often that is a desktop issue. After some serious upgrades and movement of nearly all infrastructure you our Data Center, IT has come a long way in the last few months. We want to focus on bringing more cloud services to our clients to offer value and that, in turn, will produce more opportunities in Cloud Services (Such as DaaS, and FlexPod technologies). In addition, ensuring the client has robust connectivity will be critical and, therefore, designing and implementing WAN/LAN solutions will be critical to our success. I always encourage employees to come speak to me about career opportunities and company strategy.

Pros

Bluewave Computing presents the opportunity to truly grow with a company. While it does take some time to progress up the ranks, it is very possible to get noticed because of the organizational structure of the teams. If you are a hard worker and are self-motivated, there is no reason that you will not move up very quickly at this organization. I have seen the ups and downs. Even when the economy took a turn for the worst, this company still did not let anyone go due to financial problems. The CEO is very committed to his employees. Now, the economy has turned around and management is noticing that we are a bit behind on compensation. What do they plan to do? They are re-evaluating the compensation to bring them more in line with industry standards. Management is very agile and nimble given the correct data to back any changes that someone suggests. MAJOR UPSIDE HERE: If you have the data and business plan to support a new client offering, the EVP is always open to additional ideas on how to help out our clients from a strategic perspective.

Cons

Due to Bluewave still being a relatively small company, people sometimes wear multiple hats resulting in some ambiguous responsibilities. This is starting to get better as the company is in a major growth pattern and responsibilities are being assigned to their rightful places, and people are getting placed "inside the correct box."
