Pros

Nice people. Fun to work with.

Cons

Mundane work environment. Merchandising quickly turns into data entry with no creativity. Poor products providing low marketability. Snacks and breakfast are offered but rarely delivered on. A want to be start-up lacking a clear path to success- thus leaving many messes to be cleaned up. Great technology, just under-utilized due to poor CEO management and little to no organization.

I apologize it has taken so long to respond to this review as we recently discovered it on Glassdoor. A lot has changed since this review was written and these opinions give us a chance to share a different perspective. We do agree with some of the review and appreciate the callout regarding fun people and great tech! I'd estimate that at the time this review was written, we were still utilizing a number of 3rd party software tools that were not designed specifically for Blitsy and so there was a lot of files management required as we went back and forth with many different vendors who were not used to selling online. This required a good amount of data entry on our end and often times meant we were updating descriptions and doing other work in excel that felt archaic (to everyone here, not just the reviewer who may have had a heavy hand in excel). Today, we are mostly using in-house software we've developed with this type of feedback in mind and our workflows are greatly improved + simplified. A lot of the creativity to date has been what's difficult to see from the outside looking in as the vision has been to build a completely custom eCommerce platform that can support multiple brands under one roof. And it's working! We strive to market the most prominent brands and best-selling products available at stores or online within the arts and crafts industry and we've remained true to these company's roots of remaining focused solely expanding our reach within the arts and crafts industry. And we think it's worth noting that our startup mentality beyond building end-to-end eCommerce tech and services was based on supporting up-and-coming brands that weren't getting representation in big box stores and/or mass merchants. We're very supportive of newness and innovative creators and agree that the industry needs more innovation and creativity. We will continue to strive to be better and thank you for the contributions you provided while with us while you were on the team. We wish you the best. Regards, Ross

Pros

I enjoyed the people and my role. I got to touch almost every aspect of the business and learned a significant amount in my time with the company. It led me to an Executive position elsewhere and the experience gained was invaluable to me.

Cons

I have no cons to share.

Pros

Great work environment including free breakfast, free snacks, tons of super nice people and lots of dogs running around. Good separation of developers and content creators leaves employees free to perform. They seem to really care about their employees and want them to perform to their fullest potential.

Cons

It's not your typical 9-5; 8:30 - 5:30 is the expected norm. In the beginning it was more about job performance and staying from 9:30-7 or 10:00 - 7 was appreciated. It changed while I was there and became a reason for dismissal.

Thank you for sharing your experience. We truly do care about all of our teammates and appreciate your feedback. For what it's worth, we do not have an 8:30-5:30 expected norm. And it's very much about impact over effort as it's always been here (or we hope anywhere), but if we were to have a genuine conversation about this particular situation and actual time of day/night being referenced in this review, the 9:30-7 or 10-7 reference would actually be 10:00'ish-5 or 10:30'ish-5:30p regularly which we can say was not cool since there was very little and inconsistent communication about these personal needs. It is beside the point that we are talking about a Manager and one of the team's defined leaders who would then not be able to partake in our standup meetings (which has since shifted to afternoons). This was really bad signaling to the rest of our team and raised lots of questions from everyone. We understand that talented software engineers can choose where they spend their time and we're supportive. This was a unique situation where it was best for both parties to grow in different directions and we believe the company communicated frequently and patiently about the cons listed in this review. Thank you for all of your contributions to Blitsy and, as you know, we are wishing you the best and want you to be happy. Best regards, Ross
