Pros

Black Lapel is a hybrid of a tech startup and a fashion company. Like a tech company the atmosphere is fun but the work is intense. Someone looking to learn about the next generation of the fashion and menswear business can sink their teeth into any number of projects and have the opporunity to make their mark on the company.

Cons

The tech startup scrappiness leads to people being spread thin and charged with tasks they are not always prepared to handle. Lots of fits and starts and plenty of mistakes along the way. These things aren't necessarily frowned upon. You're given room to try things and make mistakes, but if you thrive on being reassured that you're doing the right thing, Black Lapel is not the place for you.

Culture: The company culture features a positive work environment, with tight bonds among all of its employees. Black Lapel feels similar to a family where people look forward to coming into to work everyday. Mission: People care deeply about the organization's mission and work hard to achieve organizational goals as well as set new ones. Black Lapel's success means their own personal success. Quality: All employees understand the importance of urgency when it comes to client response time. Black Lapel employees frequently hurry to beat the clock, but refuse to let it affect the quality of their work. This balance between the two provides a strong sense of value for Black Lapel customers as well as a sense of satisfaction for Black Lapel employees. Cross Department Communication: Company is organized in a somewhat flat structure, fostering communication and collaboration amongst different departments. This allows employees the chance to get their feet wet if they have an interest in working on projects outside of their assigned department.

Cons

Salary Increase and Rewards: Rewards and recognition are important not only to generate loyalty but also to foster collaboration. Focusing too much on sales numbers and not enough time on employee recognition can lead to burnout and can increase the chances of losing some really great talent. Promote Healthy Lifestyle: Whether this be offering gym reimbursement, a healthy catered lunch, encouraging walking meetings, or spending more time outdoors, these are vital to making sure that your staff is not only physically, but also mentally healthy enough to perform their daily tasks.
