Pros

Bio-Rad operates very lean. So the only upside is that your position could be safe. But it’s also a negative because you’re going to be performing more tasks than your job description entails. Only bright side i saw to the company was the production techs. They are good people.

Cons

They just laid off 15% of their workforce in Woodinville and my assumption is this is the 1st round of lay offs that will eventually turn into multiple rounds where the entire plant will be shut down! If you do get hired be prepared to have a Bait and switch pulled on you, they will give you more on your plate and will not compensate you properly. They underpay their staff almost 25-30% less than the industry standard. Not a great company, great to start off with getting the title for your resume, but it doesn’t benefit you beyond that. The HR dept is probably the worst department in the company. Very unethical practices i saw behind the scenes.

Pros

Lower level groups were great to work with. The job itself was routine enough that it was easy to learn. Its a great entry job as you have to pick up many skills in a short period of time.

Cons

Management has no idea what it takes to do the tasks they ask of us with little time. Everything is on rush and half the equipment is outdated and constantly failing. New equipment takes forever to validate, if it ever does. You're constantly asked to help other understaffed groups, even if yours is also understaffed. Communication does not go far with upper management as most of them are also overloaded with work and don't actually understand what is needed for jobs to be done.
