Pros
I was new to the area and was in desperate need of a job. I had an interview very quickly upon submitting my resume and my first day wasn't long after that. The pay was good and overtime was plentiful.
Cons
I was thrown into a room with no idea what to expect. I was desperate for a job, the pay was good, it was close to my house, so I took it. I lasted 6 hours before I ran away. I wasn't even supplied with proper footwear that fit my size, so I was uncomfortable from the start. I loaded a pallet for about 3 hours before I threw a ton of meatballs and sausages through a metal detector. They then showed me how to make labels and put them on boxes. I was pretty much thrown all over the room and it was probably because I'm just not meant for packing meat and sucked at everything. My body was killing me the next morning and I just didn't bother showing up. They called the next day and asked why I wasn't there and I said "eh, not feeling good. Not coming back, sorry." No use using them for a reference if I only lasted so short of a time, so whatever. Here's where the weird stuff comes in. They have a room full of solely foreign people - I at least hope they get paid the same wages and get treated fairly. Their turnover is high for a reason. Employees hate the owner and referred to her as "princess." Overtime pretty much just gets sprung upon you the day you get there. You don't leave until everything is done. (unless you're me and just run away.) Employees also talked badly about me to a new hire after I left. I found out through him because I happened to know him. So it's a toxic environment on top of all of that. Just don't work there unless you really really need the money and are ok with abuse.
