There are lots of areas for improvement, but the biggest issue to me is that there aren't a lot of resources allocated to fixing the problems. Office is mostly open and there's a stocked kitchen... but the pay is below market, health insurance is just ok, retirement kicks in after two years, and (arguably the biggest offender) the time off policy is pretty lackluster. Policy is state minimum for both sick and vacation days, which means that plenty of people come in to work sick to avoid unpaid time off, which means that sickness spreads fast and often. There also isn't great communication between departments and management, making normally easy day-to-day tasks into stressful situations.
