Pros
Fun NE Minneapolis office with plenty of windows and natural light. Hybrid schedule with 2 days in the office. They keep the snack cart and fridge stocked to battle your afternoon slump. Supportive and attentive IT dept. Creative leadership gives constructive feedback, brings positive energy, and prioritizes one on one time with their team members. The talent is abundant in the design department - it's great to be surrounded by folks with so much experience, I learn something new every day. Employees are paid every week. The president is very mindful and inclusive in weekly all-staff meetings. The articles/readings and inspiration she shares makes me feel more connected to the team and kick starts my mindset for the coming week.
Cons
The health benefits require a biometric screening to get a discount. Without the screening/discount, benefits almost double in price. There is a weekly spousal fee for benefits if they are offered coverage at their job, but you decide to cover them on your plan, this is the first time I've run into this. It is common to work over 40 hours a week with very little wiggle room to push deadlines. Pay is average, I negotiated for more, but only got a couple thousand dollars (annually) over my initial offer. Account and Project managers are overworked and understaffed, causing rushed last minute requests that can harpoon a designer's work flow. Betty and Favorite Child feel siloed from each other, wish there were more opportunities/projects that had crossover opportunities.
