Pros
Great support between managers, got to know basically the entire company from the CEO down to other stores casuals due to being Perth based. Regional is firm but fair, with an in depth understanding of the business so she’s able to easily answer questions and communicate expectations. Being a family business, they understand that family and other personal matters come first, so most times getting personal leave is easy enough.
Cons
Wage Budget cuts meant reduced operating hours, no lunch covers for 6 out of the 7 days, but sale targets continued to increase. Difficult to keep team members around and do ongoing training when you can only offer one three hour shift a week between the entire team. No lunch covers meant everything is left to you, sometimes it’s so dead that this makes sense, other times everything all starts happening at once with still no wiggle room to get an additional person in and you really start to feel the weight of doing an entire teams work for only one persons salary. Constant closing for lunch would also often cause you to be hassled by customers who expect you to work through your lunch break for their convenience and act like the closure is your fault.
