Pros

Mediocre employees will survive at Berendsen.

Cons

Company does not want an opinion from their employees unless you are in the inner circle. Do not request any changes to their policies and procedures as that is a sure road to termination. Their policies and benefits are from the stone age. Current mileage reimbursement for use of personal car is $0.15/mile. They do not furnish cars for outside sales but they require a salesman to drive a vehicle that is less than 4 years old. . In 3 months, I put 4000 miles on my car and they reimbursed me $633.00. If you are on the road, they will not pay for your lunch unless you take a customer with you. There is no training provided on the product offerings unless a manufacturer gives a free online webinar. There is no chance for advancement unless one of the old fossils retires or dies. Management seems to be threatened by anyone with a better or different idea.

Berendsen Fluid Power Response

Sorry things did not work out for this former employee to his or our satisfaction. A couple items need to be clarified. In addition to the $0.15 cents per mile for gasoline our outside sales reps are given $600 per month auto allowance. That totals $28,800 over four years for auto replacement. After four years the allowance drops to $300 per month. With regard to paying for lunch, we do reimburse for lunch when employees travel overnight. When working locally without customer contact there is no free lunch. Training at our vendor sites.is regularly scheduled for outside and inside sales reps and our mechanic technicians. We believe this is very important for employee development. We are proud to say we have many long-tenured, contented, and productive employees.

Pros

You aren't micromanaged. It is made clear through the hiring process that you need to be able to manage your own time and territory. If you can't do this, you won't get hired. If you can, you won't get fired. No monthly sales metrics, nobody breathing down your neck. Base pay is ok, commission can be a lot if you get the right customers. Good co-workers, good benefits. Travel isn't terrible if you live near your territory.

Cons

Management is reluctant to accept change in how they do things. Industry responds heavily to oil/gas, so there are down seasons.
