Pros

Many benefits available: 7 days of PAID vacation, closure and guaranteed pay for all major holidays (total of 5), and 6 days of PAID sick days. Additionally, medical benefits covering a variety of needs and services. Flexible/friendly staff and a satisfactory working environment. On the job training and a lot of hands-on experience with a diverse population.

Cons

Unpredictable client interactions at times.

Pros

Behavioral Services Center has a great diversity of clients. It's a great place to learn and develop your skills as a clinician. The staff is supportive, welcoming, and encouraging. If you need additional support supervisors are always available and eager to help with conceptualizing a client's challenges, and assist in developing supportive and inclusive treatment plan. Behavioral Services Center offers an opportunity to work in collaboration with other clinicians to best meet client's needs.

Cons

Behavioral Services Center experiences high demand for counseling. As you work with a diverse population at times, it can be challenging to develop work/ life balance. I think it's a skill that you develop overtime to set boundaries with work and not to carry client's struggles with you.

Pros

diverse client population, broad base of client issues and needs, hard work is generously rewarded, lots of opportunity to learn, lots of opportunity for advancement. many people have started out at BSC and gone on to develop their own successful private practice

Cons

be prepared to work. not really a con, but BSC is a private practice and unlike non-for profit community mental health centers there is a bottom line and an expectation for performance.
