Pros

Pay rate is above average I guess? but doesn’t really matter when you can’t get more than 20 hours a week.

Cons

Terribly micromanaged. It’s tough enough when you are micromanaged in this field being as you have limited access to your supervisors, but on top of it, the micromanaging itself was poorly executed. You aren’t allowed to have any contact with your clients (I.e. exchange phone numbers or even discuss your availability). Multiple times I called scheduling and got an answering machine or someone who sounded annoyed that they had to deal with me instead of my assigned scheduler. Every time I tried a new number they told me I called the wrong number and by the end I had no idea who I was supposed to contact. There are just too many hands involved which makes things more complicated than they need to be. Additionally, I had poor training and my “home” office was 35 miles from my house and I was expected to drive there on a whim to produce stimuli for a client and ONLY when the supervisor scheduled my time (in other words, I couldn’t show up at the office when it was convenient for me OR do it at home on my personal computer). Also, I didn’t realize in order to request even a half day you needed to put in a request SIX weeks in advanced. Are you kidding me!? I asked for one afternoon off with 4 weeks notice and they denied my request. Behavior frontiers you need to do better by your employees. They try to plan your schedule 6 weeks in advanced (although in reality you get one day before the first) and there is limited flexibility, which would be fine except every month is different and they send you to “fill ins” instead of guaranteeing you a client throughout their contract. The worst part about this job was the driving, they expect you to drive 40+ miles and often you don’t get the paid mileage and drive time. I have worked for previous ABA companies and they all had policies that stated you could refuse the client if it was more than 25 miles or 30 minute drive time. When I complained about being given a client an hour away from my house I was basically told to suck it up because “others do it.” Sorry but just because other employees have allowed you to take advantage of them doesn’t mean I will let you take advantage of me. Furthermore, I had SO many clients complain about the high turnover, inconsistent hours, bad scheduling department, and poor supervision but of course I was just expected to shrug and say “I don’t know.” When in fact I do know that the company is poorly managed. There are some quality professionals with this company but they are clearly too afraid to speak up to upper management resulting in this revolving door of therapists and less than satisfied parents and worse clearly underserved clients. Finally, the paper data is so archaic! I literally saw supervisors taking pictures on their phone of the raw data/graphs to write their reports. So much wasted time and money wasted! I was really hoping this would be my forever home but it just wasn’t.
