Pros
A lot of the people you work with are legitimately great and intelligent. Having the opportunity for community outreach is wonderful.
Cons
The more “senior” scientists are shady, cutthroat (for no reason), and see themselves above everyone else when in actuality they are at the same level. They will literally yell at you in front of colleagues, demean you, take credit for your work, purposely sabotage you, and go behind your back to spread lies about you to managers, (but be nice to your face). The managers are just as complicit and will side with their senior scientists every time, not go to HR on your behalf, lie about you to upper management and other people, and attempt to strong arm you into signing shady documents to protect themselves at your expense.
