Pros

They give a you a good discount

Cons

-understaffed (to keep costs down, believe it or not, at the HQ level some people still make less than $40,000) -overworked (most of the time you have one person managing a couple hundred million dollars in projects alone) -no process (no clear job descriptions, i.e., doing work well outside your job role) -no space (how does a company this big not have room??) -no career path (they suggest lateral movement - not advancement) -bad managers, it's a 'good ole boys' club at the top and most lack the management skills required -high turnover (over a third of my department has left in under a 2-year span) -no work-life balance (mandatory outside of work volunteer-told duties) -owner operated in which he cares more about NASCAR than the quality of his product -work culture is abysmal (most don't care, have lost all their passion, and actively hate their job) Teams aren't set up for success. Leaders in position come from an old-school way of thinking and aren't adaptive to today's climate. Odds are you will get burnt out and leave in a year, because Springfield, MO is in the middle of nowhere.

Pros

General coworker relationships are positive. Lots of walking around and moving, which keeps you active. That is about it...

Cons

Where to start? The root of the many issues of this company is that upper management (who make all the decisions) is so far removed from the people who the actual decisions and changes affect. Decisions are made in a vacuum, and employees are treated as numbers on a spreadsheet. Bass Pro is a true corporation in the cliche sense. Work here if you are okay with making below-average to average pay and dreading going to work. Another huge issue is what they allow the customers to get away with. Appalling, really, and some customers should be ashamed of the way they act, but people will always take as much as you allow and then some, so really it starts with the company setting clear boundaries that protect ITSELF but also its employees.
