Pros

Remote Work The Team (aside from management)

Cons

Barkyn sounds like an amazing company to work for: 100% remote work, a sexy startup expanding internationally, a super young team, appealing benefits beyond the paycheck, amazing for anyone who loves dogs... Well... it's just too bad that in reality Barkyn is like a beautiful apple on the outside, but completely rotten on the inside! Here's what you'll find at Barkyn: - An AMAZING team, hard working and creative... but mostly tired of the toxic environment; - Micro management: top managers micro manage every department, to the point of reviewing copy...; - False concern for employees: they want to look as much like a people-focused company as possible, but in fact their wants are above all interests; - Bad management: one day they have one strategy, another day they have another, and the next day they have changed their ideas again! Hours of work lost, because there is no consistency in the strategy; - Lack of work ethic: many times there are no means to achieve the ends; - Very inefficient performance evaluation system; - Poor communication from management, total lack of empathy; - 100% concerned with dogs’ health? WRONG! They only care about the results at the end of the month. Too much branding, not enough genuineness; - Lack of automony: at Barkyn there is no space to expose our points of view. To be there you need to execute without questions... ; And I could go on....!!! AH! The positive reviews you find here are mostly false. I leave you two tips: look at the company's turnover and if you want to clear your doubts send a message to people who have already been there. 😉

Pros

Being able to work remotely

Cons

Management is an absolute nightmare. They hire you but don’t trust your expertise. They hire random externals and agencies that get recommended by investors while firing current employees. They expect you to work overtime without any compensation. They have zero respect for your time. They change strategy weekly if they don’t see uplifts in performance. The CEO’s only goals is to be in the 1% and send threatening emails disguised as “motivation”. If you’re young expect to be spoken to in a very demeaning way. Actual things I was told: - We don’t give positive feedback because that’s the culture of the company; - You can’t expect that 8 hours a day is enough to do everything (while not paying for overtime); - I don’t care about your calendar; - I worked for a company for 8 months without getting paid because people were depending on me (from management, it wasn’t his company, he was somehow trying to make me accept that you have to make “sacrifices”); - Sometimes you have to let go of some of your star players if they don’t align with your new strategy (from the CEO in a company wide email).
