Pros
1. Opportunity for growth. I have always been able to express my goals with management and obtain the learning/training/resources needed to expand my career. 2. My voice matters. Bank OZK provides a "Better X" portal in which all employees can submit ideas, recommendations, and concerns regarding the platforms and policies we use every day. If a change can be made to benefit the team, it will be, if a change can't be made, management will troubleshoot to determine what steps can be taken to simplify/improve the process or procedure. 3. Benefits. Bank OZK has absorbed health insurance premium increases for the last 4 years. When this year they couldn't absorb the increase, they found ways to reduce premiums for vision and dental to help offset the increase, as well as increasing the employee match for HSA plans.
Cons
1. As with most companies, internal candidates do not typically receive the same competitive pay external candidates do. 2. Sales. In the last 5 years OZK has transitioned more to a sales-based new account model, without adopting a sales-based pay scale. This expectation vs. compensation causes a large amount of turnover in retail branches.
