Terrible Company & Low Pay - Media Coordinator Backbone Media (Colorado) Employee Review

Pros

reimbursement on wellness and fitness is a plus

Cons

The pay here is relatively low compared to other digital marketing agencies and they expect you to work 8-5 than the traditional 9-5. No workplace culture. Not only that but they will lay you off with ZERO notice and no reason and replace you with a Caucasian person. Plenty of red flags so run while you can.

Thanks for your comments! It's a true compliment to everyone that works here, as they certainly are motivated, passionate people. We have a truly amazing group. We are always looking to improve and while we are not a big agency, we strive to be on par or better with pay and benefits.

Pros

Backbone hires fantastic people, and I genuinely enjoyed working with my coworkers everyday, even when the client work was unsatisfying or difficult. Asking questions and asking for help is expected and encouraged. There is room to grow, especially if you're efficient and hardworking and can "show off" these attributes. Easy to balance work/life (outside of particular busy seasons). If it were up to me, I would still be with this company.

Cons

Unfortunately, the management are shooting themselves in the foot, so to speak. The "dirtbag" culture that Backbone is founded on is (maybe unsurprisingly) not fantastic at managing employees and company growth/decline. Sometimes to the point where it sabotages client relationships to the point of loosing business & having layoffs. I do feel that the lower 85% of employees are the ones keeping Backbone in business. Upper 15% need to get on the same page about the direction the company is headed and listen more to the employees who are doing the actual work.
