Pros

Amazingly supportive teams and management. Great health plan options from free to deluxe. The work performed for clients is excellent and rewarding. Love the work flexibility and vacation/holidays on par or better than other companies I've worked for, definitely at top in the outdoor industry.

Cons

none. work is work, it's not always fun but this place tries very hard to make it as good as it can be. It's kind of what you make it.

Pros

Backbone hires fantastic people, and I genuinely enjoyed working with my coworkers everyday, even when the client work was unsatisfying or difficult. Asking questions and asking for help is expected and encouraged. There is room to grow, especially if you're efficient and hardworking and can "show off" these attributes. Easy to balance work/life (outside of particular busy seasons). If it were up to me, I would still be with this company.

Cons

Unfortunately, the management are shooting themselves in the foot, so to speak. The "dirtbag" culture that Backbone is founded on is (maybe unsurprisingly) not fantastic at managing employees and company growth/decline. Sometimes to the point where it sabotages client relationships to the point of loosing business & having layoffs. I do feel that the lower 85% of employees are the ones keeping Backbone in business. Upper 15% need to get on the same page about the direction the company is headed and listen more to the employees who are doing the actual work.
