Pros
To start off your careers it is a nice place to work to develop your technical and softer skills. It is a great opportunity to work along side with some great and intelligent people on a number of tasks. It is a relaxed environment and allows you to meet, socialise and get to know some amazing people. When it comes to work delivery, there is a reasonable balance between full steam ahead and it being BAU.
Cons
The main con is the lack of career opportunities and personal development while working for this company, it purely based on individuals leaving the business or once in a blue moon job posting. Especially when working for the company for a number of years, taking on more responsibility, ownership, complex components, project ways of working and there is not vertical movement. When there is job listings there is favourism and preference to recruit external candicates instead of promoting individuals that have been in the business a number of years. Which does not make sense, when those individuals coming in to support are working on the same tasks and in most cases have less responsibilites then those less senior. In terms of management, some people are stuck in there old ways of working, scared of change and to address issues. Easy to tackle issues and process changes seem to take ages which would allow for a better ways of working and effeicent task delivery. Finally there seems to be a bit of micro managing and moments where people have been quite condescending especially from senior (on paper) individuals. Having to explain and justify why a certain method, fix or change has to be done to people that havent got in depth knowledge in a certain components
