Pros

1. It is a company with very long history and it is famous. This is a great working experience to put on the resume. You can learn a lot in BNY. 2. The WLB for my position is good. The deadline is generally not too tight and the workload is not too much. 3. 401K match is 7% employer match when onboarding which is high comparing to other companies. 4. Most of the colleagues I worked with are pretty talented. 5. The company is very focused on implementing new technology especially AI. BNY has internal AI tools. This increased the efficiency of daily work.

Cons

1. Constant layoff: the management team keeps cutting the headcounts in the US offices and put the position in India offices to save money. There are constant layoff each year or even each quarter. So the job security is a big problem if you want to join the US offices. Employees are worried about laying off. 2. Constant reorganization in my team: It caused a lot of chaos and reduced the efficiency and even the management team does not know what they should do after reorg. 3. The culture of some teams that I know and worked with are not good. 4. Medical plan: the medical plan is not good. The coverage for the HSA plan is too low and there is no HSA employer contribution. 5 The salary is kind of low comparing to similar size banks. The annual salary increase is low like 1-2% of total salary. The annual bonus is low as well.

Pros

After the latest re-structuring and going agile, I don't find any. But before, a stable bank with a good book of work. Positive environment with support from your colleagues. Industry standard medical plan and vacations.

Cons

Bonuses and salary raises are hugely dependent on who you know in the senior management and how they perceive you rather than what you actually delivered.
