Pros

I was working from home. And some of the people on my team were okay to talk to.

Cons

Take everything I say with a grain of salt. I did a career change from education after getting an MSF. Educaotrs can show up unprepared and exhausted, and still "do their job". This is not an option for most private sector jobs. As an accountant I was not very engaged from the start. I worked as an accountant at BNY, and my experience was far from positive. While I understand that accounting can be a demanding field, the expectations and work environment at BNY were simply unreasonable. First and foremost, the workload was excessive. Despite being promised a balanced work-life schedule, I frequently found myself working late nights and weekends. The deadlines were often unrealistic, leading to constant stress and burnout. There was little regard for personal time, and it felt like the company expected us to prioritize work over everything else in our lives. Additionally, the training and onboarding process was trash. I was given minimal guidance and had to figure out many complex tasks on my own. The lack of proper training resulted in mistakes and inefficiencies that could have been easily avoided with better support. The management was another major issue. They were unapproachable and unsupportive, offering little to no assistance when problems arose. Constructive feedback was rare, and when it was given, it was often delivered in a condescending manner. The overall atmosphere was one of fear and intimidation rather than encouragement and growth.

Pros

Job only as good as immediate manager. Salary is Ok ish Benefit options are ok not great.

Cons

1) Retaliation is a way of life at this company going back to 2018 and becoming worse since 2) Mid level managers are very efficient at passively insulting the Teams they are responsible for. 3) It is nearly impossible to advance in the company. 4) When you try to post to another department - your Mid level manager will do the best to stop you from advancing. Some have close friends in HR that will even have you submit a new application in an attempt to accuse the other department of recruiting you. I have experienced this. 5) The only way to increase pay and experience is by leaving the company. 6) It use to be a culture of lets help others when there is a problem, now it is lets find who to blame for upper mangers rushing a project before all risks are identified. 7) If you are taking a new Job - professionally push for higher Salary once you are in raises will be very small.
