Pros
Solid, stable product Good relationships with clients/customers Nice separation of customer support, customer engineering and product engineering groups. Good work/life balance, rarely working late/weekends. Flexible work hours, option to work from home a day or two a week Healthcare for family, not just employee Office within Dundum shopping centre, so nice lunch/shopping options, plus free parking on weekdays Good team support, QA, DBA's etc Nice coffee & toast for breakfast Good people, mostly retains Irish based company culture, not too political, flatter hierarchy etc
Cons
Limited career opportunities for developers after principal engineer, which was a pay grade rather than a title. Annual pay reviews were limited to eg. 1-3% as opposed to retaining key staff by monitoring their current market value. Bonus depends on whole company group performance, not just office or personal level. Stable product means less inclination to use latest and greatest technologies Dragging backward compatibility anchor for older clients Non-developers eg. services consultants/analysts, QA seem to be promoted faster/recognised than product software engineers. No longer headquartered in Dublin after acquisition by BAE
