Pros

The only benefit in working at Axos Bank (formerly Bank of Internet) is the opportunity to gain experience working in a dysfunctional environment.

Cons

I heard it was a less than ideal place to work before I started my employment here. I couldn’t believe it could be as bad as I heard. It was. (1) The meritocracy culture that Axos Bank encourages results in a selfish, conniving, idea-stealing, finger-pointing, fear-based environment. (2) The executive team fails to see the value and dedication employees bring, and instead of rewarding them they let their top performers go in fear of others looking bad. There are some occasions where the company went so low as to fire some employees right before their bonus stocks fully invest. Shame on you, management. (3) There is no work-life balance. In fact, the workload and unrealistic deadlines demand weekends and evenings to get your job done. Unless you are part of a team that doesn’t put their time in. If that is the case, those low-performance employees get to come in late and leave early without consequence. (4) There is no meaningful appreciation or recognition. After a major launch to consolidate their brands, the company hosted the most mediocre lunch event you can imagine. An outdoor event where you waited close to an hour on line to receive half a sandwich and a choice of soup or salad. And, in a pathetic effort to recognize the hard work and dedication employees put forth for the successful launch, you have an arrogant, self-indulged CEO on a balcony looking down at his employees (figurative and literally speaking) as he struggles poorly through papers acknowledging the few names on the list he was able to pronounce leaving the others unrecognized with the messy stack in his hand.
