Pros

The employees I worked with were excellent people to work with. The managers were very good to me, I was allowed the freedom to make decisions when needed and they backed each decision. I was given very good raises in a short amount of time.

Cons

When the manager was out, I was asked to be the MOD. The stress was overwhelming at times. There were times when we had 300 reservation, 30 or 40 valet due in and only 3 buses out of 6, that were running at the time. My sister-n-law had been an employee there for 45 years and it was a very good place to work, but when the company was bought by Avis, it was a difficult place to work. Avis was not familiar with valet at all, when I was asked if they should raise the price, I explained that all the other valet spots had better amenities to offer and some of our customers had been parking there for 15 to 20 years and it might not help if they raised the prices. They raised them and we lost a lot of customers. We had a very good record for no theft at the time, but when they hired a new crew, we had issues with things missing out of the valet cars. As dispatcher, each call that came in was answered by the dispatcher, this could be up to 300 calls per day. while you were answering the phone, customers needed to be checked out for their parking bill. It was also your responsibility to keep track of the buses and have them at the airport in a timely manner. The previous owner kept the valet and car rental business separate, after Avis was the owner, it was combined, thus making it difficult to give full attention to any part of your responsibilities. The sheriffs were called on many occasions to handle violent customers.

Pros

I've been with Avis Budget Group for 16 years, and one of the biggest reasons I've stayed is the opportunity for growth. I've had multiple promotions throughout my career because the company has consistently been willing to invest in people who work hard, take ownership, and deliver results. No two days are ever the same, which keeps the work interesting. I've had the chance to lead teams in multiple markets, work alongside talented leaders, and continually develop new skills. The business is fast-paced, but it gives you the opportunity to make decisions, solve problems, and have a real impact on both customers and employees. I've worked with leaders who genuinely care about developing talent, and many of the people I've worked with have built long-term careers here. If you're willing to put in the effort, there are significant opportunities to grow professionally and take on increasing levels of responsibility. The company also continues to invest in new technology and operational improvements, making it easier to serve customers and support employees.

Cons

Like any customer-facing operation, there are busy periods that can be demanding, especially during holidays and peak travel seasons. Success requires flexibility, strong communication, and the ability to adapt quickly to changing business needs. The pace isn't for everyone, but for people who enjoy problem-solving, leadership, and working in an environment where every day is different, those challenges become opportunities to learn and grow.

Pros

Upon completing my first month, what has stood out most to me is how genuinely supportive and welcoming the team culture is. Every person I've worked with has consistently made it clear that if I ever need help or have questions, they are available and willing to support me. One thing that has been especially meaningful is the personal initiative some coworkers take, such as a colleague who regularly checks in with me after shifts to see how I'm doing, offer encouragement, or recognize my progress. Those small but thoughtful moments have made a huge difference in building my confidence. In addition, my supervisor's consistent end-of-day check-ins have provided structure and support as I continue learning the many facets of my role. Overall, this has made me feel not only welcomed, but truly invested in. Leadership's emphasis on improving both employee experience and customer experience also makes it clear that the company values its people, which is incredibly motivating as a new employee.

Cons

Naturally there's a learning curve with any new role. It's been a lot to take in, but that's more about being new than about the company. The support I have makes it all feel manageable.
