I worked in several regions and your experience will vary greatly depending on your region/country. As with most companies, higher levels become very political especially if you're viewed as a threat. The culture has been negatively impacted with leaders moving between Europe, Asia and North America.
I've read the reports regarding unethical behavior and I have witnessed this first hand. Part of me wants to believe it's cultural differences that led a senior leader to encourage his team to break local law but that should never be an excuse. I was encouraged to charge in more hours than I worked. And, before any Avanade leader replies asking for more information, it was reported to the ethics hotline and no action was taken despite having multiple occurrences and witnesses.
Also, the company claims to have anti-retaliation policies. Again, experienced this first hand, and the policies are rubbish. Within 1 month of reporting an ethics violation I was removed from my leadership position. But that's just a coincidence, right? They did pay a significant severance to release them from liability. Maybe that's a pro?
