Pros

Leadership seems to be trustworthy, make good decisions, and genuinely care about employees' satisfaction and well-being. For example, they are thoughtful, cautious, and responsible when making decisions related to the COVID pandemic. Giving back to the community is a strong part of Availity's culture, through initiatives like Operation Give Back, which supports local businesses. Most coworkers are supportive and happy to help each other. Teams go on fun outings every quarter. Salaried (exempt) employees receive uncapped PTO. Leadership and management actively encourage employees to use their PTO.

Cons

QA work can be tedious and repetitive at times. New hire training could be more structured. With the exception of a few scheduled knowledge-transfer meetings, it was pretty much self-guided. Expectations and timelines were not always clear. The office layout, with up to 7 people sharing a team room, can be distracting due to multiple conversations occurring simultaneously. For a healthcare software company, you'd expect exceptional health insurance. Availity only offers high-deductible health plans, so you end up paying a lot out of pocket.

Thank you for taking the time to provide such a helpful review. Your positive comments speak to our culture, an area we have been working to build upon and improve over the last year. Thank you for noticing (and broadcasting) these efforts. We’re very proud of our success! Now, let’s dig into some of these “Cons” you mentioned (rolling up our sleeves). Repetitive, administrative work is daunting for all of us, but this happens at all levels at Availity (and probably everywhere else)! One suggestion for combatting repetitive work is to work closely with your manager to identify opportunities for automation. Sometimes, it’s just not possible or cost-prohibitive, but it’s still worth a discussion. As for training, we know that we have some work to do here. Sadly, you don’t get to go back and start over, but your comments will help make it better for others, so thank you for bringing it up. If you still need training, please talk with your manager or your HR business partner, and we’ll help you find the resources you need to be successful in your role. Given all the social distancing lately, we would LOVE to be in a room with 7 of our team members (we are missing our people)! But we know that doesn’t work for everyone. Once we all return to the office—whenever that might be—please let your manager know if your work environment is too distracting for you to work successfully. We are sure that we can accommodate your work style. Lastly, and we’ve talked about this a lot, our two high-deductible plans are competitive in today’s market, but we know they’re not popular with associates; they continue to show up in our Glassdoor comments. While we can’t make any promises, we are working on this. Improving our benefits will take time (and money), but you’re your feedback here is heard loud and clear. Thank you again for your review. We’re so glad to have you on our team.
