Pros

Working with the kiddos is probably the only enjoyable part of the job. Seeing the kids you work with make progress and meet their goals is definitely amazing, however the company itself lacks professionalism and does not have their employees best interests in mind.

Cons

I definitely do not recommend, if your an adult with responsibilities and bills to pay. The hours are never consistent. Clients get added or removed from your a schedule without so much as a heads up or meeting. When you get hired they tell you that if your clients cancel on you, they will allow you to recover the lost wages either by subbing or allow you to do additional training but this hardly ever happens. Due to the way they split your shifts finding a second job isn’t an option. For example you could work from 8-11am, and then have a 3 hr gap, and be scheduled to work again from 2:30 to 5:30p. The organization and policies of the company is all over the place. For starters they are constantly hiring and firing people. They switch the supervisors/ behavior technicians from cases all time, and will not tell formally tell parents or other workers assigned to the case. I’ve been on cases where parents were not aware of changes till months later. Supervisors are hit or miss. Some are extremely helpful and available to answer your questions, and there are some that don’t have the necessary people skills to be in such a position. The company is also extremely disorganized. They don’t practice the policies they preach and will make new policies that only benefits them and not employees/ clients. They expect you to be answer emails/ phone calls and essentially be available 24/7 even on your scheduled days off and if you aren’t, they do hold against you. The lack of professionalism in the company was also evident in the way they handled the pandemic. Through out whole pandemic employees were only provided with $25 stipend for protective equipment once and a small to go bag of gear. Your only provided with a tablet. That half the time does not work because they are several years old. As far as getting stimulus for your client, it’s definitely a process. Most of the time they just provide laminated flash cards, so often times you have to buy things out of your pocket or request your supervisor to provide it for you but that can take weeks, months even. Another to keep in mind is that this company only provides you with an ABAT which is different from an RBT. Most insurance companies prefer RBTs as they are certified by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board. And the BACB is what is widely used here in the states. So if you are looking to grow in this field I definitely would look into working with companies that will help you towards becoming an RBT and BCaBA. The opportunity for growth here is very limited and ultimately boils down to favoritism. Periodically HR sends out emails offering gift cards or door credit to the employees in exchange for positive reviews, so please be aware of that when reading other reviews.

Thank you for providing your feedback. We are glad to hear you enjoy helping individuals with disabilities, as we have made an enduring commitment to help the disability community. Thank you for helping us Make a Difference! We do understand that working in this field can be challenging due to client cancellations. Working in a people-driven field, we are not in control of client scheduling needs and their cancellations. We do our best to encourage prompt communication so we can reschedule their medically necessary treatment as soon as possible. After all, we are here to help families in need. We are happy to hear you received your PPE stipend and PPE supplies. As mentioned in company emails, we have additional supplies available at all clinic locations, and we have been mailing additional PPE including but not limited to masks, face shields, and sanitizer, to all clients and team members who have requested additional supplies throughout the pandemic. We are happy to send additional supplies to you if you need them. We strive to be environmentally friendly and operate as paperless as possible. Have you reached out to tablet support with your device questions? We have sent out new tablets to individuals who have requested tech support, and we are happy to replace your device if needed. ABSI believes in providing high-quality care, so we invest additional training and resources in all our team members, beyond the state minimum standards. The training you received has allowed you to obtain an internationally accredited Applied Behavior Analysis Technician (ABAT) certification, which is accepted by all funding sources in California and national commercial insurance companies. It is a Tricare requirement that all providers be certified to provide services to military families. As ABSI is a proud supporter of our military families, we ensure all team members across the country are certified to be able to support our military families in need of ABA services. Should you have any questions or concerns, please call the Human Resources Department at 855-581-0100. We'd love to assist with your tablet and PPE needs.

Pros

Ability to create own schedule; can do mostly remote work for various California regions; BCBA's can run social groups that increase billable opportunities

Cons

Extremely low salary for basic BCBA duties while managing admin work, and scheduling work, high caseloads, minimal growth opportunities once at BCBA level, client schedules can range from 7 am to 8 pm, scheduling team is constantly changing and provides insufficient work resulting in more work for BCBA's and behavior specialists to manage
