Pros
Lots of really friendly people here. Good benefits. You get to work with some incredibly passionate volunteers.
Cons
No emphasis or commitment to deadlines, plans, or timelines. Major undertakings are decided at a whom without proper planning, or even assessing if you have the resources for such an undertaking. Little oversight over management, resulting in pretty negative sub-cultures and silos in the company. Tenured management can be entrenched in their ways, and obstruct innovation. Managers can make or break your experience at ASCE -- make sure you can work productively with yours. Operations are dictated by the egos of "VIP members," who will often bog down operations with unreasonable requests that do not contribute to the Society or profession, but are accommodated by ASCE nonetheless. Office is VERY dark. Minimal natural light. Very bright and intense artificial lighting Minimal upward mobility.
