Pros

Visionary founder, positive grassroots impact of work. Excellent colleagues, small company feels like a family. Life's good if you're in a tech role. The cons apply only to non-tech people at Artoo.

Cons

While Artoo has everything going for it, the co-founder is unpleasant to work with, and always looks at me and my work with undisguised disdain; carries a misplaced superiority complex and my way or the highway attitude; instead of mentoring and helping colleagues with their work, criticises and scolds. Is a boss more than a colleague, a mentor or a co-founder to you, and you're just an employee. Is extremely cold otherwise also. Makes the workplace feel like a Nazi concentration camp. Thankless work with unreasonable expectations and no explanations whatsoever.

Pros

If you're a self-starter, quick thinker, and passionate about the work you do, then Artoo helps you take it to the next level. Founded by diligent and extremely smart individuals, working at Artoo helps you dip your feet deep into the work you're doing and doesn't let you be a mere spectator. It's a particularly lucrative place for Engineers as they form the core of the company. As an engineer, you get to see and feel the things you create in real time, which fosters learning and ownership. Colleagues are young and charming to work with, and your coworker can be anyone from the CEO of the company or a fresh graduate, which makes it exciting.

Cons

It's not a typical 9-5 job, so you may find yourself working a few extra hours and sometimes even on weekends, (as is the case with any startup). The company is still evolving, so a lot of things are learnt on the go. Hence, you must be prepared to work amidst chaos and react quickly to changing situations and spur-of-the-moment decisions.

Pros

You get to work on lots of routine tasks, and asked for a status update every hour all through the day and weekends. You really do feel **important**. You do not get overpaid and pampered with money or facilities, you will learn to make ends meet in expensive bangalore, so its easier to quit. You learn to live on elaborate made up stories of impact, purpose, excellence. You could learn to be the next great story writer.

Cons

I cannot think of too many, my mind was jaded with the constant haggling over priorities of mind numbing tasks. Let me still go over a couple. Most discussions, action plans, thinking revolves around engineers, if you are not looking at an engineering role then beware. You are a throwaway. If you ask for a raise after even 2 years to even a few notches below market rates, you are seen as not worthy of the great purpose Artoo works for and not aligned to its awesome values. As a small company it is supposed to be a collaborative environment, welcoming of diverse viewpoints. But most of the important decision making is either opaque and comes top down or transparent and adamant.
