Pros

Some talented and well-intentioned individual contributors. The mission has potential, but it is not well supported by leadership execution.

Cons

Leadership quality is the biggest issue at Artera. There is a visible lack of alignment and tension within the executive team, which regularly spills over into the broader organization. The company lacks a clear, consistent strategy. Direction changes frequently, creating constant whiplash for teams and making it difficult to do meaningful, focused work. Culture is weak and morale is low. Rather than leadership taking ownership for employee dissatisfaction, issues are often addressed with superficial fixes that do nothing to solve root problems. Accountability is missing at the leadership level. Problems are acknowledged but rarely owned, and responsibility is frequently deflected instead of addressed head-on. Employee development is not prioritized. Performance reviews have historically been skipped during merit increase cycles, which undermines trust and makes compensation decisions feel arbitrary and opaque. The result of all of this is a frustrated, disengaged workforce and high levels of dissatisfaction.

Pros

Company perks are decent, management (NOT LEADERSHIP!/ ELT) is very supportive of work life balance and overall the people that work within the org are driven, friendly, and create a fun atmosphere to be a part of. Healthcare, pet insurance, learning stipend are all great. (No 401K matching) Diversity and inclusion are great and there are groups that meet for all different types of people/ identities.

Cons

No job security. They have gone through multiple, and quite large, rounds of layoffs over the years due to the business constantly being on the rocks. They also are quite big on spontaneous firing (and publicly which can be quite humiliating). You will be micro-managed to ensure you are contributing more than you signed up for upon hire, and tasks, tools, and processes are constantly changing as people come and go. If you are looking for an opportunity that will take you far and advance you in your career, this is not it. Additionally, compensation is no-where near the industry averages, and while they will make it sound like there is room to be promoted and grow, that is a mere over-promise in all departments.
