Pros

I have worked at many companies over the course of my career, and Aptora is hands down one of my favorites. The work is interesting and challenging. I have the opportunity to interact with many different personality types daily. My coworkers are helpful and everyone in my department works together to accomplish a mutual goal of maintaining a satisfied customer base. The addition of a COO has been an improvement which provided stability and allowed the President, James Leichter, to travel onsite to work with our customers. The company has more strict attendance policies than my previous employers however these are made very clear in the interview, hiring, and orientation processes so if you can't accept these or manage your schedule, this is not the place for you. That said, they are flexible and willing to work with employees who have proven themselves. Aptora provides excellent benefits, well above average for a company of this size.

Cons

Strict attendance policies, some personality conflicts common with a small company. Work load can be an issue at times, and stress level can run high at times. Not much room for advancement, but again, if that is something you are looking for, this may not be the place for you.

Pros

Great benefits, small size, management truly cares about the staff. Management is accepting of all the different personalities and caters to varied work styles as much as possible. This is a family company, and everyone is treated like family. Our software is top notch, and one of the best in the industry!

Cons

Typical issues with any small company. Everyone knows everything about everyone. Time off can be hard to schedule if there aren't enough people to cover the job duties in your absence (although this is better than it used to be)

Pros

If you get lucky and you like your coworkers, the day to day is bearable. You will be busy enough that you won’t be bored.

Cons

-No real HR department to go to with concerns. The HR director is married to the owner, and I did not feel that there was a way to express concerns about the company, in part due to that conflict of interest. -Unrealistic expectations. The owner expects you to be as invested in the company as he is, meaning you should WANT to spend your free time on weekends and after hours doing extra stuff for work. -The software you are selling is not functional. Be prepared for angry customers, and know that you probably will not be able to help them. Updates frequently down the entire system, and marketing efforts pushing a new feature regularly begin before that feature is even functional. -If you’re a good employee, you’ll be expected to pick up the slack for less productive employees-to a level beyond what I would consider acceptable. The hiring and firing here makes no sense; the people who contribute the least have managed to hold on to their jobs for way too long, while others have gotten fired with no warning for petty and trivial reasons. -The raise/bonus system is not really a system at all. Not much of a schedule for when a performance review may happen other than just when they get around to it, and a further delay after the review in getting them to discuss a pay raise at all.

Thanks for the feedback. My response is this: 1. If you are concerned about HR being married to the owner, there is a General Manager that has no relationship to the owners. The GM is fully qualified to handle all HR issues. 2. Most employees are salaried workers that agree to and sign a job offer that states that you are required to work 45 hours a week; 40 in the office and five outside the office. Yes, you will be required to work in the evening and/or weekends to get your 45 hours. We are very up front with this. 3. The hiring and firing is simple; we hire the best applicants for the position and if those applicants can't effectively do their job, they are fired. We are often criticized for keeping employees on too long because we want to give them a fair chance. 4. The software is only non-functional if you do not know how to use it. We have training videos, one-on-one training, manuals, and a support department that is willing to help you learn. My advice is to ask for help if you can't figure out how to use the software that is paying your salary. 5. The review and raise are two separate processes so that each can be fully covered. If you are motivated by money only and not on your job performance, then the two weeks between each can be extremely frustrating. Based on all of your complaints, I believe it is a good thing that you either quit a job that you didn't value or you were fired from a job you couldn't effectively do.
