Pros

There's a lot of opportunity to try and better the current situation. Direct managers are sympathetic to their employees and always willing to listen and try to better the situation. The company has potential for greatness.

Cons

Aptina's spirit is one of - "Whats wrong with the employees". A constant but steady stream of negative hyper attention flows from the highest management down to every employee. There is no time to better any situation because the entire company spends all of it's time yelling, "Put out the FIRE" and no one calms down enough to find the fire extinguisher. The employees do not have the severely needed time or tools to mature to a proficient level since everything is chaos and budget cutting. Engineers are asked to take on a multitude of products simultaneously while getting constantly nagged at for faster results. Goals set by management are far from realistic and any time spent innovating the current situation is frowned upon. The company tends to chase it's tail and shoot itself in the foot many times over again.

Pros

Aptina's work environment is good; it's very open, the workforce is very diverse and pleasant to work with. The products are great since you can evaluate their quality as soon as the products are done. Imaging is an interesting field that will continue to growth as more applications are found for imaging sensors and I think this company knows how to do them well.

Cons

The major concern is the management structure. The ratio of managers to engineers is too high. In the past, the vision and the strategy has not been clear. There has been also some lack of focus on critical projects that required the appropriate resources to make them successful. Compensation in terms of salary and bonus has been poor. Training is not well done. It is hard to get visibility in this company if you are not a manager or very high level engineer.
