Pros

As student it is good opportunity to work in large company. My team leaders take in account that I'm a student and I have flexible timetable, so that you can combine study and work. Applied Materials is multi-disciplinary company, so if you work as mechanical engineer you will work in a parallel with software, electrical, application and other engineers.

Cons

Semiconductors field is closed market, so if you choose to switch a job to another company, most likely it will be competitors, clients or providers. In other fields this company name say absolutely nothing, despite the fact that it has 14000 employees.

Pros

Strong place to start your career. If you do the Fusion Program you will learn a lot. Good training and benefits. Amazing Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Coworkers are smart and grounded people.

Cons

Stingy with salary, raises, and promotions. The engineer roles are broken up into Jr and Senior so the title progression goes Engineer I, I Sr, II, II Sr, etc which slows career progression and pay. Only the CA office gets extra pay due to the expense of living there, even if the MA office is expensive.
