No support during pandemic, zero communication from the company during the first 3 months.
Zero emotional and psychological support. The only compensation received for risking the health of my family the whole year, was free sandwiches for a short period.
Basic online covid training was given after 6 months which was clearly to cover themselves legally.
I was explicitly told that I should not approach people and tell them to wear a mask in the shop. Even though it is illegal to not wear one in shops. They cared more about upsetting customers than the actual wellbeing of their staff and other customers.
Over the years staff have been asked to do favours for managers such as back office work without being paid appropriately for it.
Staff have been stuck on minimum wage for years after being told about opportunities for pay rises during interviews.
Finally, a staff member in my shop was robbed at knife point and received no psychological support nor offered any meaningful time off to recover mentally from the incident.
I understand that there is a high turnover in staff at companies such as Applegreen. But I believe loyalty, and hard work should be rewarded and appreciated which it is NOT at this company.
