Pros

- The groups I worked with in engineering were filled with truly amazing people. They genuinely cared about the product, the vision, and each other. This included leadership going above and beyond to support individuals. - Indie time and learning time are two standout features of Appian compared to other companies. Having 15% of your time dedicated to side projects or learning new skills was a fantastic opportunity for personal growth. - There were ample opportunities to work on the full development stack in Engineering, including front end, backend, or support roles. I enjoyed the flexibility to move around and learn new technologies. - Free breakfast is provided on Mondays, and engineering enjoys a happy hour every other week. However, many of the usual/random parties have ceased post-COVID. There are still small celebrations held quarterly and events like PI day. - Very big in letting you be yourself.

Cons

- Appian has experienced growing pains and tensions with senior leadership, leading many culture carriers and builders to seek opportunities elsewhere. Unfortunately, when replacing them, we didn't effectively maintain the same culture, necessitating a shift to a new one. - The Return to Office process was poorly managed, lacking clear guidance. Appian's insistence on five days a week in the office contrasts with the practices of other companies in the area. - There have been several rounds of layoffs, including quiet ones and instances of letting people go through "PIPs." This lack of transparency has had detrimental effects on morale.

Pros

Cool office & perks, unlimited PTO.

Cons

My manager ultimately stabbed me in the back. Being a recruiter here is a trap. No one has your back, your are just an order taker and every stakeholder has unrealistic and unfair expectations. The founders have their hand in the entire recruiting process and it makes it so unbelievably hard. They want top talent but have not top talent pay. They are not flexible on RTO so good luck.
