Pros

Great, beautiful office in a great location, benefits package is great, good teammates/collegial environment (up to about Directors and below).

Cons

While Appian as a whole is a great company to work for, the marketing department specifically is not a place to go if you are passionate about your career. Unless you are just looking for a paycheck / benefits and have high tolerance for a lot of change, you won't last long here. From a digital marketing perspective, they still operate like it's 2010, so you won't go in, and learn about the latest in B2B marketing. The culture in marketing is also toxic. While on the surface level, the culture is collegial and laid back, there's an intensity they expect you to operate under that was too much for me. It comes all the way down from the Founders. Ultimately, I quit because I wasn't learning anything that was helping me grow my career. I didn't want to deal with the bureaucracy and lack of leadership/vision. Some of the people in leadership positions have questionable character but again, as long as you're in the 'cool club', no number of HR complaints will slow you down.

Pros

Cool office & perks, unlimited PTO.

Cons

My manager ultimately stabbed me in the back. Being a recruiter here is a trap. No one has your back, your are just an order taker and every stakeholder has unrealistic and unfair expectations. The founders have their hand in the entire recruiting process and it makes it so unbelievably hard. They want top talent but have not top talent pay. They are not flexible on RTO so good luck.

Thank you for sharing your perspective and highlighting our employee perks. We acknowledge your feedback regarding the recruiting process, stakeholder alignment, and our Return-to-Office guidelines. Providing a supportive environment where expectations are clear and fair is something we hold ourselves accountable to every day. While our commitment to an in-person workplace is rooted in building strong collaboration and connection across our teams, we are equally focused on ensuring our leaders have the tools and training necessary to support every department. We appreciate you taking the time to help us look for ways to improve.
