Pros
Human Resources: Good at recognizing and hiring hard workers, and people who fit company culture. I've made life long friends within this company Flexible scheduling Reputation as a quality restaurant chain ****Promotion from within is one of the best aspects of this company. Excel at your job, and doors will open for you within Anthony's. They provide school scholarships to employees who have stayed for over a year, as well as health insurance and retirement options Corporate policies are clearly defined in employee handbook (if you read it) Locations across Washington (etc.) allow for employee transfers, and support geographical moves Variety of restaurant themes/environments to choose from ****Company wide dedication to a "wow" experience for the guest. Meaning most managers will back you up in whatever you think it takes to making the guest happy. (They wont empower you to do it yourself, but if you ask for help, they will oblige in most circumstances.) Local procurement of ingredients/beverages, as well as seasonal specials Happy hour specials are very popular Locations are generally scenic and seaside, making them a summer hotspot (and money maker!) They accommodate seasonal workers and students Professional environements Discrete and professional when people are let go based on conduct. Management does not want problems to be public to staff Locations (meaning, mostly GM's) are given significant autonomy (except for menus) from corporate
Cons
Degree to which locations follow corporate policy varies by location Scheduling is at risk to favoritism, nepotism, and direct relationship with scheduling manager Must be willing to work Sundays, and holidays Seniority seems to provide a shield for struggling managers No automatic gratuity (corporation wide,) including large parties Menu's are safe, and rarely exhibit anything in terms of creative or eclectic dishes Consumer preferences can vary greatly by geography and community. Anthony's makes company wide menu decisions based on consumer preferences closest to the home office. This means, for example, if your in Spokane, they might take one of the most popular items off the menu, because it wasn't popular at pier 66. When the summer (outside) decks are closed, things slow down dramatically, and hours are cut across the board for most positions Strong divide between front and back of the house (as is in most restaurants) Ceo, etc., have their target market in mind when making decisions. If this inconveniences or hurts their employees, they will not hesitate
