Pros
- No overtime - Opened my eyes to the reality of the animation industry (was a starry- eyed fresh grad) - Managed to make some long- lasting friendships here
Cons
- Leadership staff have no idea what they are doing: they are not up to industry standards in terms of technical skills and often communicated poorly to their team - Stagnant career / skill growth, with many “dinosaurs” remaining in the studio as they are too comfortable with their lifestyles there and they know that they are not employable outside of the studio - Little to no compensation and benefit; low starting pay and small increment (if any) - Seniors and leads do not really impart any useful knowledge: they are selfish with knowledge (assuming that they have any; my personal experience was that I was not taught why something was wrong, thus making the same mistakes over and over again - bad if you want to grow as an artist) - Unprofessionalism and lack of proper work etiquette by some staff and upper management: staff would imitate your speech pattern and the way you walk as a joke; upper management hold grudges and are known to bring up said personal grudge during your performance review (some were outright insulted) - Uninspired IPs; little- known client projects - as expected due to everything mentioned above - Having to work full day on alternate Saturdays
