The major downside about working in the claims department at Amica is the workload. Amica boasts a 37.5 hour workweek. I know plenty of Amica adjusters (working in various branches) and I’ve never met anyone who works 37.5 hours.
A typical workweek for claims adjusters averages 50 hours (if you want to stay on top of your claims) and in CAT (catastrophe) season it gets worse.
It’s a known problem that Amica claims employees (claims representatives as well as adjusters) are burning out and quitting, which explains why there are so many job openings.
If you don’t mind working the excess hours year round then you’ll be really happy here. Keep in mind the adjuster position is salaried, thus there is no OT pay (except during very select days during CAT season, when you’ll get a flat $150 - gross - for each full CAT day worked).
