Pros

Great mission! Plenty of opportunities to get warm fuzzy feelings about the impact you're having as an employee. If you can turn warm fuzzy feelings into food/rent/money, you're all set! Co-workers were all good people, and with the constant turnover, you'll have a lot of them. With so much uncertainty, there is a lot of opportunity to move around and even innovate. A decent starter job, if you can network your way out. You can be proud of working here, for a while.

Cons

Pay and expectations. My geographic area of responsibility was almost tripled and I didn't get a pay raise. Not only that, but because it was considered a "new" position, and I didn't have it for long enough, I didn't qualify for consideration of a merit raise. When I met or exceeded goals, I got a "thank you" and then doubled goals the following year - again with no real pay raise or official recognition. When you've got cognitive dissonance, you create a story to explain/justify your irrational situation to yourself. I can't remember how many times I told myself that the low pay was worth it because I was making a difference. I think the organization takes advantage of people with that mindset. It doesn't have to be so bad.

Pros

Flexible remote hours, supportive team that treats volunteers as contributors rather than interns, and a low-pressure environment

Cons

Tooling is limited compared to corporate environments — primarily Excel-driven, so you won't get exposure to modern BI stacks (Power BI, Tableau, Snowflake) unless you bring them in yourself. Data sources are inconsistent (legacy .xls files, manual exports requiring conversion), so expect clean-up work.
