Pros
I have spent 20+ years working in corporate America and most of that has been in the insurance industry. Altig - American Income is by far the best opportunity to do the right thing, make money (six figures plus), and for personal and entrepreneurial development. There is a great mentorship program. Promotions are based on results rather than seniority or who you know. I am very impressed with the people and the mission, especially in the Altig agency. I expect to retire with this company.
Cons
Workloads are heavy, especially through the first year as you are learning so much about yourself, about the business, and about leading people. You will definitely learn any personal weaknesses you have in business and will have to challenge yourself to improve in these areas rather than ignore them or make excuses. Due to these things, it is ideal if you have a strong support system at home. Some travel may be needed. This is not a job where you can punch in and veg out until closing. if you don't work, you don't get paid; however, if you work hard, the rewards are fairly immediate. Like with any business, managers and personalities vary by office, so make sure it is a good match before accepting a position.
