Pros
This was honestly one of the companies with the best culture I’ve been in. Incredibly smart people, always ready to help. Lots of social events, budget for training (including conferences). Beer fridays were the best! Really nice location and office. Multicultural teams (small office but with people from all backgrounds, countries etc) In summary: the people are definitely the best part when working for Altius. Interesting projects with big companies.
Cons
Even though everyone I met was amazing, unless you want to become a Microsoft MVP, there is absolutely zero career progression. If you try to say that you would prefer working with client X or Y, working with clients from specific business areas etc no one will hear you. You can get stuck in projects forever, it doesn’t matter how much you say you want to do something else. It seems like they’ve been trying to recruit every single MVP in London, so that is now the standard for progression there. It doesn’t matter how good your work is, how happy the clients are with you.... if you’re not a Microsoft MVP or trying really hard to become one than it’s game over for you.
