Excellent place to work, but some down time and lower salary - Associate Counsel Allstate Employee Review

Pros

Leaders are empathetic and cognizant of your abilities. I have never felt like I was drowning in work. Certain leaders are especially adept at developing your career, but only if you make the effort to get to know them and establish a connection. It is a large law department, so there is plenty of knowledge and support for newer attorneys.

Cons

Allstate is constantly trying to innovate and cut costs, which means they will often reduce the workforce in the name of "Transformative Growth." Salaries are fair, but you won't get rich here. Since the law department is so large, it is easy to fly under the radar. This is good if you're lazy, bad if you're trying to climb the corporate ladder. Though, if you take the former approach, you are subject to the aforesaid transformative growth axe. For new attorneys, attrition is bad. I believe it is because younger attorneys have the extra pressure of excess debt and more time on their hands to devote to a higher paid, more demanding job. Older attorneys with families love working here because there is a true work/life balance via remote or hybrid work, as long as the work is getting done.

Pros

Large Stable company, decent benefits, provide social gathering opportunities for remote employees.

Cons

Communication is not the best. from leadership down or between departments. Perception is valued higher then performance. Under stress people may turn hostile and the leadership is not equipped to address in well. In case of my manager some of the expectations were not reasonable.
