Pros

Alliance Collections is a superb company to work for, in that they treat their employees very well. You have great earning potential, you will take away as much as you put in to it. I would venture to say that it's one of the highest paying companies in the city. The company is also very understanding of the need to balance family and work life. Third party collectors had every other Friday off. There is a sense of pride attached to working at Alliance as well. A lot of collection agencies have ill reputations and give the industry in general a bad name. It felt great to work for one of the "good guys" in the industry. Also, with Alliance growing at the rate that it is, there are opportunities to move and grow with the company.

Cons

The stress of working on a 100% commission salary can wear on a person, especially during the slower months. (with that being said, it just as equally serves to motivate, as well). You have to have thick skin to be collector- most people aren't going to want to talk to you, and they WILL take their frustrations with their situation out on you. It can be difficult at times to shrug it off and maintain a calm and professional manner. You hear a lot of excuses on a daily basis...everyone has a story, and I'd heard them all before. It was difficult to not feel so jaded at times.

Pros

Leadership is nice and willing to help

Cons

Lack of bonus structure. You pay back your hourly wages in collections and only get credit for 22% of what you collect in fee. Management expects you to do all the work for someone else to Make money from. You do all the work for someone else's paycheck. They expect you to not only be a collector but a quality assurance person. Accounting and billing. Pay does not adequate amount of work expected.
