Pros

Free uniforms, although used and sometimes not dry cleaned. Easy interview, but it's because they're desperate for employees. They'll hire your pet cockroach.

Cons

Mental and psychological abuse from management to force you to not complain, and comply to impossible, ever-changing rules. The company has its own rules, then there's post orders, then property managers and residents tell you what to do... And you're supposed to make everyone happy? It's impossible. You have a company security camera watching you at all times, so expect a call if you're in the bathroom for more than a minute. And surprise visits from management and rovers, plus constant nitpicking from everyone about tiny things. It's like they tear you down to build themselves up. This is not good for morale, teamwork and retaining employees. No one likes or respects management or account managers. There's a reward system for snitching on co-workers. The politics, gossip and back-stabbing rival any soap opera. The health coverage is too expensive. No days off, no vacation, no sick days, no raises, no positive reinforcement of any kind. I have no idea why I worked here for more than a week.

Pros

Nice main office. Training programs were pretty good. Management is always well dressed. There was a decent chance for advancement if you knew your stuff and took some initiative.

Cons

Management won't be straight with their employees. Even if you confront them with an issue, and ask them directly if there is something going on. I marked my employment as current because they never fired me, they took me off a site, started to cross train me at a number of sites, and then just stopped calling. I confronted the management about this for a few weeks and was told they simply did not have any work for me, but would call me when something opened up... That was 8 years ago. The reason I was black balled? A client complained that I was enforcing the policies they had laid out and delayed a visitor entry until cleared by the resident. That was it. Management at Alert is more than willing to throw an employee under the bus if the client balks too much. Even if the employee is in the right and the client is in the wrong, they won't even ask any questions.
