      Pros

      There are some great people working there, working in Alaska can be great, some divisions give good time off in the off-season and cruise benefits are nice. Work travel some positions is great too.

      Cons

      As with much of the tourism industry, HAP-Alaska is continually stripping benefits while wages remain stagnant. Unqualified and weak managers remain through attrition and employees suffer the consequences. Long hours are barely or not compensated by decent benefit package, and promotion potential is very limited.

      Pros

      Beautiful and unique work setting aboard domed railcars in Alaska's wilderness. Substantial tips for FoH employees. Company often promotes from within. Free cruise at the end of seasonal contract. Because a normal shift is 10+ hours, accrue overtime pay quickly. Very friendly company, you will not struggle to make connections. Excellent networking for other seasonal opportunities.

      Cons

      Long shifts and overnight travel required every shift. Housing NOT provided in Anchorage. Strict uniform policy. Communication frequently impeded by remoteness of travel, flexibility a must.
